A French gilt bronze mounted kingwood, bois satine and marquetry Louis XVI style 'liberal arts' centre table after a model by J.-H. Riesener, ca. 1890

This centre table is a replica of the celebrated model delivered by Jean-Henri Riesener to the Garde Meuble for Queen Marie-Antoinette, later placed in the Grand Drawing-Room in the Petit Trianon by Empress Eugénie, now still in-situ.

The rectangular brèche violette marble top with rounded corners, with an ormolu border, above a frieze drawer, the reverse with an apparent drawer, the sides each with marquetry panels, on tapering octagonal legs with foliate sabots.
