An impressive Gothic style carved and gilt wood frame with monks under canopies, probably France, early 16th C.

This large carved, polychromed and gilded wooden frame has the sides decorated with niches with Gothic arches, sheltering monks holding a book, topped with hooked pinnacle summits. The frieze is decorated with lancets and fleurons, the base with series of rosettes. It is attributable to the South of France, probably circa 1500.
