Work: 126,5 x 84,5 cm
The ring that seems to be lying on the table by chance, undoubtedly is the signature of Hermann tom Ring (1521-1596).
Condition: (UV-checked)
- The painting without doubt in good and hangable condition, with minor damage to the right bottom corner.
- Cradled panel. Faint network of craquelures.
- Minor wear to the sides, because of a previous framing.
- Interesting composition with a religious thema in a homely setting, with a still life in the foreground.
- The UV-light shows foremost the typical colour of the varnish.
- Some overpaint and retouches, most probably in different phases, e.g. right top corner, the zones where the different parts of the panel are touching each other, the hand and parts of the face of Joachim, the left shoulder of the Virgin, the sleeves of Anna, the filling in of very minor lacunes.
