Joseph Charles Emmanuel van Ertborn (Antwerp, November 22, 1778 - The Hague, September 1, 1823) was during the French period sub-prefect of Oudenaarde, secretary-general of the department of the Twee Nethen, director of indirect taxes in the province of Liège. At the time of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, he was a counselor at the Court of Audit in The Hague and General Master of the Rijksmunt in Utrecht. In 1816, under the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, he was recognized in the hereditary nobility with the title of baron, transferable by primogeniture and the title of knight for the other descendants. He married Rosalie Baut de Rasmon (1789-1831) in 1809 (link).

The painter Thomas Blaton (Maarke, 1787 - Oudenaarde, July 3, 1817) studied at the Academy of Ghent and then at the Academy of Paris, together with, among others, François Kinsoen (1770-1839) and Jacques-Louis David (1748-1825). He specialized in portrait painting.
