The work dedicated 'aan mijnen vriend Albijn Vanden Abeele'. Albijn Van den Abeele (1835-1918) was a Flemish writer and painter from the Latem school. He became a municipal councilor in 1863 and alderman in 1867, as well as mayor from 1869 to 1876 of Sint-Martens-Latem. Afterwards he became municipal secretary of both Latem and Afsnee (link).
