Presented to J.A.S. Jennings Esq.re J.P., M.J.I. by H.H. The Sultan of Perak for services rendered to the state of Perak (Kuala Kangsar, 20th July '29).
Perak is a state in the northwest of Peninsular Malaysia. The capital city Ipoh is known for its British colonial landmarks, including a baroque railway station.
Sultan Iskandar Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah Rahmatullah GCMG KCVO (10 May 1876 – 14 August 1938) was the 30th Sultan of Perak. Perak at that time was part of the British-administered Federated Malay States. He stayed at the Istana Kenangan, then moved to the Palace of Istana Iskandariah, Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar. His reign lasted from December 1918 until 14 August 1938. Although not of Chinese origin, this box is interesting for the Peranakan and Straits Chinese collectors.
