An Italian carved and parcel-gilt wooden 'cassone' chest with dolphins and a mascaron, probably Venice, late 16th C.

Condition: Generally of attractive appearance. The lid with the rear section replaced. The left side panel with two minor repairs. Wear to the stucco and gilding, with small losses in place. Handles and hinges probably original. The back with important woodworm traces. Interior with later metal inset.
