- 'In Vlaanderen Vlaamsch! Vlaamsch in ’t Onderwijs! De VLAAMSCHE KEIKOP – Schoolalmanak voor 1890-1891 ...', Ghent, A. SIFFER, 1890, 16°. First edition catholic student almanac.
The Vlaamsche Keikop started to appear at the end of 1890, shortly after the foundation of the Catholic Flemish Student Association. It used the motto 'In Vlaanderen Vlaamsch, Vlaamsch in 't onderwijs' and addressed students from all over the Flemish country. In its layout and jokingly satirical tone, it was strikingly similar to the almanac Driesken de Nijper, published in 1880 and 1881, of whom he called himself the grandson. It is therefore likely that behind this publication were the priests Frans Drijvers, J. de Ruysscher, Julius Bouten and Isidoor Verdoodt, who wanted to repeat the undertaking of their seminary days with this initiative, this time with more success, because De Vlaamsche Keikop would be published for much longer. In each episode, apart from individual articles, the student almanac contained an annual calendar, starting in October, an anecdotal report of the coming year and a review and overview of the main political events in Flemish in the previous year.
