The prototype of this portrait by Sir Godfrey Kneller is on show at St Georlinkge's Hall, Windsor Castle (collection number: RCIN 405675, link). William III is wearing the Garter Collar and Great George, made by the royal goldsmith Robert Vyner (link). A same type of portrait by Kneller's hand was also known of King George II, portrayed as Prince of Wales (link). These types of portraits were widespread through prints (link).

- The painting in good and hangable condition.
- Relined and cleaned, with some overpaint.
- UV-light shows the typical colour of the varnish (see movie).
- Negligible flaking to the right bottom corner, some negligible paint splashes and superficial scratches.
- Unframed.
