The Danish-German painter Theude Grönland was born in Hamburg-Altona. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen (1837-1839). Sebsequently, he was active in Denmark, Italy, Great Britain, France and Germany, where he died in 1876. He is best known for 'fruit pieces'. He was the teacher of Elise Puyroche-Wagner (1828-1895).
