This extraordinary depiction can be attributed to the Paris period of Willem Kalf (ca. 1641-1646, link).

The attribution to Willem Kalf was recognized on July 10, 2023 by Dr. Liliane Huillet.

Condition: (UV-checked)

- The work in general in good and hangable condition.

- Relined.

- The UV-light shows foremost the typical colour of the varnish, with in the left bottom corner and in the left top corner a small restored hole - the reason for the relining - and some overpaint in different phases. Due to the nature of the varnish, the overpaint is difficult to see, a new varnish would enhance the work.
