A German or Austrian basso relievo ivory plaque with a deer on a rock in a forest, late 19th C.

Most probably a hunting trophy. The iconography is of course also influenced by the deer as a symbol of the search for true happiness within the Christian tradition. Accompanied by a CITES certificate (N°2023/BE00714/CE).
