The painting with an apocryphal 'J. Staveren' signature (the Dutch painter Jan Adriaensz. van Staveren, 1613/14-1669). The reverse with the name 'Vignon' and a difficult to read text ('... peintre de l'academie royale...'), referring to the French painter Claude-François Vignon (1633-1703).
