The reverse countersigned: 'Nieuport peint par moi Artan'. Identically the same scene ('Voilier dans l'estuaire') - but a little smaller (37 x 27,5 cm) - by Louis Artan (1838-1890) was sold at Horta (Brussels, 22 Januari 2013, lot 380).
