The item marked 'WMF' (the ostrich mark of the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), 'B' (Britannia metal, a tin/antimony/copper alloy, also called britannium or Britannia ware) and 'OX' (oxidized). Britannia ware is a specific type of pewter alloy, favoured for its silvery appearance and smooth surface.

The reverse with the number '252A'.
